Awesome Read!

Wow, so happy with this great review! “Stevie’s imagery will suck you in. While I was reading this story, it felt like I was watching the movie” “Zev is an even more interesting character, he is tall, dark, handsome, part witch and part demon! What’s not to love in this book. Not to mention sassy gargoyles, zombies, and love connections.” Thanks Niketa from Dayreader!

A Taste of Between Two Evils

Between Two Evils goes on sale Friday January 30th. Pre-order is available today for just .99 cents. Here’s a taste of whats waiting…

Zev got back to the suite just as Lavanya stepped out of her rooms. His breath caught in his throat when he saw her. Holy shit!  Her shoulders were bare and so smooth that her skin looked like a bowl of cream. Her dress was a strapless, black, sequined number that hugged her body and sparkled in the light. Plus, the front was an amazing piece of art. A line of emeralds and crystals formed a tail that started at her calf and twisted up around her hips to her breasts, where it formed a dragon’s head. Its jaws were open, and black feathers jutted out to simulate smoke streaming from its mouth.

“There you are.” Lavanya’s voice barely broke through to him. She smiled, gathered her skirt, and walked toward him like a small slice of heaven.

“Lavanya, you look…amazing.” She might have said “thank you,” but he wasn’t sure. He could lose himself in her. Damn it, he thought. It might be too late already.

As she reached him, he magically changed the color of his jacket panels from dirty brown to silver gray and his t-shirt to black to better match her gown. She noticed the color change.

“You’re handy with clothing. Is this what Dylan picked out for you?” She pulled back to get a better look, as if she knew that Dylan had nothing to do with his wardrobe choice.

“Not exactly.” Zev winked at her and tucked her hand in his arm.

“How do you do that?” Lavanya asked as they walked.

“Just one of my many talents.” Lavanya rolled her violet eyes at him, and for the first time ever, he wanted someone to understand him. He stopped her in the hall.

“Truth,” he said. “I don’t know how it works, but I can create any natural fabric or material—just no plastic or synthetic stuff.” He leaned his head down, rested it against her forehead, closed his eyes, and bathed in the smell of her skin and soft perfume. Lavanya shivered in his hold, but her arms moved to circle his waist in a comfortable embrace.

“Thanks.” Lavanya’s voice washed over him.

“For what?”

“Letting me…telling me the truth.” Lavanya’s small hands caressed his lower back and he knew he had to tell her everything…

NaNoWriMo 2012 – Best Excerpt From Between Two Evils

Even though I’m not going to make it to the finish line for this years NaNoWriMo contest I did get some great work done on my new paranormal mystery romance.  The working title is Between Two Evils and here is the unedited excerpt that I like the best out of this years NaNo effort.  Hope you like it too!

Between Two Evils:

“I know who my father is Zev, but why would his enemies come after me, and why now?  I’ve never been a part of Vlad’s life.  Hell for most of my life he has been sleeping.  Ever since my mother died; it’s like he died too.  I haven’t seen him.  I know he did evil things, but that was a long time ago.”

“Come on let’s get out of here before it really starts to storm.”  Zev put his arm back around Lavanya and they started down.  Both tired and in need of blood and food.

Lavanya pulled in her emotions and tried to think of something positive to get them through the forest without any further weather upsets.  What a pain in the ass to be tied to the weather in this way.  She really didn’t need this right now.  Adding up all the things she had to do brought to mind one of her favorite movies.

Lavanya began to laugh.

“I hate to ask, but what is so funny?”  Zev looked scared to hear the answer.

“Tyron, you know how much I love watching you work,” Lavanya twisted her favorite quote to suit her own crazy list of things to do. “But I’ve got a formal dinner to plan, my clients love life to arrange, a zombie to murder and a betraying bitch to track down; I’m swamped.”  She burst out laughing again.

“Get some rest.” Zev said with a smile.

Lavanya stopped laughing and looked up at Zev.  His hazel eyes caught the late afternoon light and sparkled with mischief.

“If you haven’t got your health, then you haven’t got anything.”  Zev laughed.

“You like The Princess Bride?” Lavanya couldn’t have been more surprised.

“It’s alright.  I just have a really good memory.”  Zev smiled down at her.  “It felt good to hear you laugh.  Are you feeling better?”

“No not really, but that released some tension.”  Lavanya steeled her spin.  “I’ll feel better when the zombie and its master are dead.”

“I like the way you think.”  Zev started walking again.  “Let’s get back to the castle and get ready for tonight.  Hopefully, this will be over soon.”
